We offer five teacher-supported online language courses for learners of Dutch, the official language of the Netherlands and Belgium (Flanders): two courses for beginners, two courses for intermediate learners and one course for advanced students. We also offer two tutor-supported distance courses teaching reading skills in specialized forms of Dutch, i.e. Early Modern Dutch and Business Dutch. Tailor-made tuition of Dutch or Flemish can be offered on request, including 'medical Dutch' (i.e. Dutch for health professionals such as doctors and nurses) and 'legal Dutch' (i.e. Dutch for law specialists).
One-to-One
All Dutch language courses are fully delivered from distance, open to learners anywhere in the world and taught online on a one-to-one basis, i.e. every student is taught individually via Skype by his or her personal tutor. The courses are flexible and can be adapted to meet students' needs also to allow for other commitments, such as work, studies or family. You decide whether your private online teaching sessions or classes, which last one hour and are conducted via Skype, take place in the day time or the evening - for every Skype class, you agree with your tutor on a day and time that suits both you and your teacher. All course materials are accessible online and downloadable and all your exercises and tasks are corrected by your personal tutor.

In Beginners 1 and Beginners 2 you learn the skills you need to speak, read, write and understand basic Dutch in a range of practical everyday contexts. No previous knowledge of Dutch is required for Beginners 1. For Beginners 2 you need to have completed Beginners 1 or have a starting level of Dutch comparable to level A1 as defined by the Council of Europe (CEFR). The learning outcomes for Beginners 1 are equivalent to level A1, and to level A2 for Beginners 2. The Beginners courses are an excellent preparation for the Basisexamen Inburgering (Dutch Civic Integration Examination)
Intermediate 1 and Intermediate 2 consolidate the knowledge of Dutch you already have and extend your language skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing on an intermediate level. In the courses you also study the culture of Dutch and Flemish societies. Intermediate 1 is for students who have successfully completed Beginners 2 or who have a similar linguistic standard, equivalent to level A2. To take Intermediate 2 you need to have completed Intermediate 1 or have a level B1. The learning outcomes for Intermediate 1 are equivalent to level B1, and to level B2 for Intermediate 2. Advanced 1 which is taught entirely in Dutch, further develops your language skills of reading, listening, writing and speaking on an advanced and academic level (C1). The course is also geared to further expanding your knowledge of the history and culture of the Netherlands and Belgium. It is aimed at students who have completed Intermediate 2 or who have a similar language standard, comparable to level B2.
The Early Modern Dutch Reading Skills Course is designed to give you the skills you need to read 16th, 17th and 18th-century Dutch and Flemish texts (i.e. the original language of the Dutch Golden Age). The course is open to learners with both prior or no knowledge of Dutch.
